I have been a fan of both the Pittsburgh Steelers and Eat ‘n Park since I was a young kid.. it just ran in the family. I couldn’t be more excited to make this offer as part of my gift guide this year.

“Eat’n Park began nearly a half century ago as the first Pittsburgh-area drive-in restaurant with carhops. The carhops are gone now, and our look has changed quite a bit since then, but one thing remains the same — our commitment to great food at an exceptional value while providing outstanding service.

On June 6, 1949, Eat’n Park began with a revolutionary concept. Led by Larry Hatch, an executive of the Isaly Company of that era, a group of Pittsburghers built a tiny, two-tone yellow, 13-seat restaurant in Pittsburgh’s suburban South Hills and, at 2:00 p.m., sent 10 bustling carhops out to serve customers right in their cars. And what a revolution it was. The restaurant was so busy that it caused an enormous traffic jam on Saw Mill Run Boulevard and had to close to regroup a scant six hours after it opened. Eat ‘n Park has several locations throughout Pennsylvania, Ohio, and West Virginia and proudly employ over 8,000 workers! They are committed to great food and customer service, but are also dedicated to helping the communities that have supported their business for nearly have a century.

Eat ‘n Park is currently involved in a program called LifeSmiles which is an initiative based on the ideas of our First Lady, Michelle Obama and her Let’s Move Campaign . The common goals of both programs are to provide access to healthy, affordable food and to increase physical activity. Nearly $1,000,000 and 20,000 volunteers over the next 5 years have been designated to help make this a success. Beginning in December 2010, Eat ‘n Park will be offering mini Smiley Cookies to children in an effort to decrease calorie and sugar intake by children. Eat ‘n Park will also offer fruit options as an alternative to the cookie. Original cookies will continue to be offered. So, What Did We Really Think?

We of course receive some delicious Pittsburgh Steelers cookies to celebrate the Steelers vs Browns victory. They were a hit not only by design, but by taste as well. We really love Eat ‘N Park as a whole. They serve great food at a great price and their Smiley Cookies are really a hallmark of my childhood. I cannot even begin to tell you about the times that our family spent together in the restaurant location in Hermitage, PA. Really. We would go out-to-eat once a month and this was always our place of choice because we were crazy about the cookies. My sister and I would argue over the colors and we would always eat the eyes and smile first. As a child, I never really thought about the business as a whole and I never knew that it was a Pittsburgh based company.. and I never knew how much more than that they really are. The representatives at Eat ‘n Park are dedicated to providing excellent customer service in every way possible.
