So, what did we really think?
This DVD is in similar format to “Swan Lake” in that “Prima Princessa” guides you through the play of “The Nutcracker”. The professional dancers from the Birmingham Royal Ballet perform play. Between each act, your child is given the opportunity to learn technical dance steps including passé, glissade, sauté, sauté arbaresque, and echappe sauté. They say and demonstrate each step and allow your princess to practice.
I thought the entire concept was really great. The DVD set is great for teaching children of all ages the art of ballet in a fun and technical way. Adding the animated “Prima Princessa” puts a fun twist on the traditional ballet theater and really makes it fun for kids. Serenity loved to dance along. She repeats the words and concepts and does her best to review each skill and even gets excited to show her teacher what she has learned.
