Year in Review 2009; Bring on 2010
Year in Review.. and 2010 Resolutions
Personal Goal
My personal goal for 2010 is to obtain my first position as a new graduate, LPN. I would live to avoid the long term care setting as that is not part of my long term career goals. I have applied for several positions over the last few weeks. I will be purchasing my first outfit for interviews.. and going over practice questions and etiquette.
Financial Goal
Get out of credit card debt. In all honesty.. we owe somewhere just under $7,000, and we didn’t do much this past year to decrease that which is disappointing. We no longer use credit cards so the amount has not increased.. but we really haven’t paid as much toward them as we could have.. so no considerable difference has occurred. We have mapped out the options and it is possible for us to completely clear our credit card debt in 13 months without using our income tax return…
Of course we want to put money away in our savings account as well. We seem to always have to spend it within weeks of putting it in there. It’s always something… ballet or preschool fees, car repairs, birthdays, school expenses.
We also want to put a set amount from each paycheck into the kids savings account. The money in those accounts are used for their birthday party expenses and Christmas gifts to kind of ease the burden all at once next year.
Educational Goal
Wow! Last year was really successful for me as far as this portion went. Having a newborn and still completing college was huge for me. I am so thankful for the opportunities that I was given and I look forward to the new ones that this year will bring.
This year, I plan to simply focus on my pre-reqs for my BSN.. and hopefully shave a semester or two from the process. The goal is 3 years for the LPN – BSN track.
Family Goal
Our goal for this year is to do more things together. We plan to spend more time participating in different activities. We are looking into bowling and perhaps swim lessons for the kids. I also want to take the kids to do some volunteer projects and teach Serenity especially the importance of giving to those that are less fortune. We are also exploring organics and natural foods and other household products. We are interested showing our kids how to grow up healthy and make good choices as far as their diet and exercise routines are concerned.
I hope everyone has a safe and happy new year.. enjoy our random photos from the past year.
